I think he/she might be cheating

I heard my boyfriend cheated on me, but he denied it. My friends and other
classmates are telling me he really did, but i have no proof.. He is not the type of
person who would do this to me. We dated for over a year and i feel like it was a
lie the entire time. He treats me with respect and says he loves me all of the
time…I just don’t know what to do..and if i have to, how do i move on from all of
this?

Sounds like you’re in a very tough situation right now. It must be really hard to have different people telling you different things and just wanting to know the truth. Have there been any other times when you thought that your boyfriend may have been lying to you? Also, you may want to check the relationship spectrum (under the title “respect?” on our website to check out some aspects of your relationship and see if you have any concerns around some of your boyfriend’s behaviors being unhealthy or disrespectful. This will also help you to find ways of encouraging open and honest communication between the two of you. If your boyfriend has been cheating on you and you decide to leave the relationship, one of the most important things that you can do is remember to stay in touch with people that you care about and practice ways of taking care of yourself each day. This means spending lots of time with friends and family that you care about and talking over the situation and how you are feeling about things. This also means making sure that you are taking time out to do things that make you feel good- this is different for everyone but could be things like taking a walk, taking a bath, reading, cooking, watching your favorite TV show, renting a movie, having some of your favorite treats, etc. Going through a situation like this is tough so making sure that you are keeping connected with people and taking care of yourself is so important. Stay strong and make sure to log onto our chatroom to speak with a specially trained teen counselor if you would like more support. We are available Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 5-7pm (Pacific time).

Without proof it is his word against your friends. Apart from this, how do you feel in the relationship? You say he treats you with respect and says he loves you, but are you happy? If you feel that the good points outweigh the bad, you might want to give him the benefit of the doubt. If you do end the relationship, it will always hurt for a while (it has to, otherwise it means your own feelings for him weren’t that strong). But you will get over it. There are a lot of people on this planet and a lot of people who are exactly right for you. It may be hard to find a perfect match, but don’t put up with second best.

Okay, once again I agree with Paul.. Sometimes friends would say anything to make sure that they don’t lose their friend, or it might even be the fact that they like him themselves. The most you can do is give him the benifit of the doubt. Think about the way he was with other girls, i’m sure you’re more “on watch” now, but you need to relax, without ANY proof, the most you can do is trust your heart.. That’s the most you can do… Stay strong girl, don’t let your friends pressure you into doing something that you’re gonna regret later in time.

I know how you feel! I had the same experence. I was dating this guy for a year and a helf and I really thought he was wounderful. A year into are relationship a bunch of my friends were telling me that they saw him in his car with another girl, then they started saying that he was trying to get with a friend of mine. You know it went on for awhile that I didn’t believe then, until a year and helf later that I relized he was cheating and being an a** behind my back. You know how I found out the truth? I went on the computer and started chatting with his ex girl friend and didn’t relize it and she told me alot of things that I only had in mind that she was telling the truth.
Yea it was hard forgetting all the good things that happend in the relation ship, but you know something I learned (Getting rid of a loser, Brinnings along a winner.)
